Challenge
Midlands Expressway Limited (MEL) designed, built and operates the 27-mile long M6 Toll road through the West Midlands. MEL were seeking to educate customers about M6 Toll, as well as provide them with a means of ordering Tags, which enabled cashless payment at toll booths. In addition, drivers were to be able to manage their Tag accounts online, which meant that the Tag system, operated by a third-party company, needed to be integrated with the toll road’s website. MEL also required the ability to manage content, revise prices, handle customer requests and edit account data.
Solution
Liquid 360 presented MEL with a proposal for a bespoke Content Management System, which would allow non-technical MEL staff to manage website content and user accounts. Site security was achieved using 128-bit https encryption data, with the means to import data from a third-party system also being provided. In addition, an extranet allowed M6 Toll staff to respond to customer requests.
Results
Over 5,000 new customers created toll accounts using the website. Online account management also resulted in reduced call centre costs.
